2003 chrysler town and country review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The luxury of versatility. introductionfor some people, luxury means a deserted beach, a bottle of sunscreen, a new mystery novel, leaving everything behind. For others, luxury means traveling with all the comforts of home. But the town & country does it without the excess weight and bulk. Once in, the town & country delivers better handling than most of those truck-based suvs. And it costs less than most of them.  chrysler last redesigned the town & country for 2001, and it remains among the best minivans on the market. The interior is versatile with seats that fold and remove. Powerful v6 engines deliver crisp performance. The ride is smooth and quiet. And it's wrapped in an attractive design.  for 2003, chrysler has added standard equipment at most trim levels, an optional power sunroof, and three new option packages for the town & country lx. Power adjustable pedals are expected to be available late in 2003.  . lineupmidway through 2002, the chrysler town & country line expanded to five trim levels, with the new high-value el joining the existing lx, ex, lxi, and limited. For 2003, the lxi and limited are offered with either front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive; all el, lx, and ex models are front-wheel drive.  all models are built on a long, 119. 3-inch wheelbase, making the town & country among the biggest minivans on the market.  the standard engine in the el and lx is a 3. 3-liter overhead-valve v6 producing 180 hp and 210 lb-ft of torque. A 3. 8-liter overhead-valve v6 developing 215 hp and 245 lb-ft is optional in el and lx, standard in ex, lxi, and limited. Chrysler's town & country limited feels like a luxury vehicle that happens to be a minivan. In between, a broad range of models meet varying needs and price ranges.  the model lineup can be a little confusing, because the bargain-priced el comes with some standard equipment (such as three-zone climate control) that the $25,165 lx does not. Both come with power windows, heated mirrors, cruise control, tilt steering, seven-passenger seating, multi-stage air bags and abs. Both feature dual sliding doors, with power an option for the passenger side.  the ex 26,315) represents a definite step up, with a power-up and power-down rear liftgate, dual power sliding doors, a removable powered center console, am/fm/cd/cassette stereo with six speakers, second-row bucket seats and split 50/50 roller seats in the extreme rear, a power eight-way driver's seat, and three-zone temperature control. The ex also comes with traction control and 16-inch tires and aluminum wheels. Dual power sliding doors, a security alarm, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls have been added to the ex equipment list for 2003.  the lxi 29,460) adds automatic temperature control, an air filtration system, 10-speaker infinity audio, a universal garage door opener, an electroluminescent instrument panel, and, new for 2003, an electronic vehicle information center (trip computer, etc.), auto-dimming mirrors, third-row lamps and assist handles, and a roof rack. Color-keyed lower bodyside cladding distinguishes the lxi as an uplevel model.  leather upholstery is optional on both ex and lxi. Options added last year include dvd video and remote audio for the rear seat passengers (complete with wireless headphones) and a tire-pressure monitoring system.  the ultimate-luxury limited 35,620) coddles its occupants with premium-grade leather, memory seats, and a six-disc cd changer. It is distinguished externally by its color-keyed roof rack and chromed aluminum wheels.  all-wheel-drive editions of the lxi and limited list for $33,333 and $37,945, respectively.  side-impact airbags are optional on all models 390).  in addition to the town & country line, chrysler also markets the voyager minivan, which is built on a 113. 3-inch wheelbase and, with more basic equipment and appointments, represents a strong value in the family-transport market. (see separate newcartestdrive. Com review of the voyager line.)  . walkaroundform follows function in the minivan world; that's why we don't usually think of minivans when we think of stylish designs. In spite of this, the chrysler town & country presents a sleek, solid stance.  it looks aerodynamic in profile, with its raked windshield, rising roofline and beltline, and fast d-pillars framing canted rear windows. Crisp, formal creases have replaced the rotund forms of the 1990s. Pronounced wheel arches complement sharp character lines that flank the integrated grille. Rear-end styling tends to make town & country look wider and not as tall as it really is. Huge taillamps feature clear red lenses and jewel-like reflectors.  there's really nothing mini about this minivan. Compared to other minivans, the town & country ranks among the largest, at 200. 5 inches long and 78. 6 inches wide. Its wheelbase stretches a full-size 119. 3 inches. Press a button on the remote transmitter and the door slides open; press the button again and it slides closed and seals. From the second-row seat, the power sliding door can be opened and closed by pressing a button; it can also be opened manually. A safety lock switch hidden on the trailing edge of the door can be engaged to prevent a child from opening the sliding door from inside. The power sliding doors can be fussy when passengers are in a hurry, however, and they usually are in a hurry.  pulling on the outside lever opens the power door manually, with just slightly more effort than opening a regular manual door. The outside door handles are comfortable, easy to operate and well designed; they impart a feeling of quality in appearance and operation. All door handles should be this good, but they aren't.  a power rear liftgate (optional on el and lx, standard on ex, lxi, and limited) adds further convenience when picking up groceries or supplies. Press a button on the remote control and the liftgate opens or closes automatically. It provides seating for up to seven people, and all positions are roomy and comfortable. That's something that can't be said for a lot of sport-utility vehicles. Cup holders are available at each seat, and the rearmost passengers each get their own storage console, though the plastic lid is flimsy. Seat belt anchors are height-adjustable in the front and middle rows. Judging by his expression, this is one of his favorite vehicles.  access through the rear hatch is a bit higher, however. Caesar prefers a ramp to get in that way. Loading groceries is no problem, though. Plastic grocery bags can be looped onto special hooks on the backs of the rear seats. There's a fair amount of cargo space behind the third row, which is not true of the voyager and other standard-length vans. An adjustable cargo organizer (optional on front-drive lx, lxi, and limited) fits on the floor behind the rear seat and provides a bin for six grocery bags, handy for keeping things from sliding around in.  we found the second-row bucket seats and third-row split bench easy to remove. Each seat is heavy enough that care should be exercised when. Bucket Seats✔ Power Windows✔ Anti-lock Brakes✔ AM/FM✔ Climate Control✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ CD Changer✔ Cruise Control✔ Aluminum Wheels

2004 chrysler pt cruiser review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New turbos bring affordable power. introductionthe chrysler pt cruiser has become a familiar sight. The cruiser combines the retro looks of a late-1930's american sedan with modern styling and features. It made a big splash when it was introduced as a 2001 model. That was back in march 2000, and chrysler has been selling more than 135,000 of them a year. In spite of this, the pt cruiser still attracts attention. People are intrigued by the cruiser's difficult-to-define character. Chrysler says the pt cruiser is too cool to categorize. It boasts the interior volume of a sport-utility vehicle. Pull the rear seats out and it'll haul a load of building materials or a big tv box. Yet it's shorter in length than many compact cars, making it easy to park. It's also easy on gas.  adding to the fun is the driving experience. The cruiser is based on the dodge neon, a compact car noted for sprightly performance. New turbo models add fire under the hood. The gt (aka pt turbo) features a 220-horsepower engine that gives the cruiser a real boost. We also like affordability. On the downside, the pt cruiser has all the refinement of a compact car.  new features are available for the 2004 models to enhance the cruiser's sophistication. An optional power convenience group 705) adds remote keyless entry, automatic power central locking, and power exterior mirrors, and cruise control. The gt also comes with side-impact airbags and most of the limited edition's luxury goodies. A new option for 2004 is sirius satellite radio, which is offered on all models. The cost of the receiver 325) includes a one-year subscription. Also new for 2004 is uconnect, chrysler group's hands-free, in-vehicle communications system 360), which uses bluetooth technology to link the user's cellular phone with the cruiser's stereo speakers. Appearance packages include woodgrain exterior accents, the chrome accent group (expanded for 2004), and the chrome-and-leather dream cruiser 3. walkaroundthe chrysler pt cruiser blends the retro look of a late-1930's american sedan with new-age styling cues such as dual-beam flush headlights and teardrop-shaped taillight lenses. But that's not all there is to the pt cruiser. The shape is intriguing, but underneath is a modern platform with front-wheel drive.  by exterior dimensions, the pt cruiser is quite compact. It's nearly 6 inches shorter than a neon subcompact. Yet with 63 inches from pavement to the highest point of its roof, the cruiser is also 7 inches taller than the neon, and nearly as tall as some minivans. That height is a crucial element of the pt cruiser's design.  the gt is distinguished from the other models by its chrome exhaust tips, larger grille and air intakes, and a spoiler on its liftgate; however, the spoiler 150) is an option on the other models. interiorthe pt cruiser pulls its exterior styling themes into the cabin with painted inserts on its t-shaped symmetrical dashboard. The driver faces three white-faced gauges set in individual cylinders, with speedometer center, tachometer right and fuel and water temperature left. The gt's silver-faced speedometer reads up to 140 mph, while the standard cruiser's speedo goes to 110.  accessory switches are concentrated in the center panel, with radial-type climate control dials. The door levers have a nice action, and the switches operate with good tactile feel, though they're not world class. The stereo sounds tinny. Also, there's a separate set button for the station presets, fussier than simply holding the preset down.  a bonus of the cruiser's tall profile is its upright seating position, with a fairly high view ahead, somewhat like a sport-utility vehicle or minivan. The front seats in the three lower-line models have a reasonable amount of bolstering to keep driver and passenger from sliding side to side. The gt also features a chrome-spoked, leather wrapped steering wheel, and chrome pedals.  roominess is a virtue in the cruiser. Its 121. 5 cubic feet of interior volume is comparable to that of large cars such as the mercedes-benz s-class or lincoln town car. Much of that space is a function of the cruiser's height. The roof rises toward the rear like on a chopped-top hot rod.  to take advantage of this, the rear seat bottoms are higher than those in front, resulting in what what the industry calls theater seating. The front seats are mounted on tall boxes, leaving plenty of room for rear passengers to stretch their legs underneath. A six-foot, nine-inch passenger can fit comfortably in the front or rear seats.  chrysler claims the pt cruiser's cabin can be configured 26 different ways. This flexibility stems from three features: a 65/35 split rear bench that can be folded flat, tumbled forward or removed; a movable parcel shelf; and an available front passenger seat that folds flat. The rear seats are anchored with quick-release attachments for easy removal. Suitcase handles and steel wheels make it easier to stash them in the garage and move them about. The smaller seat weighs 35 pounds, but the larger section weighs a hefty 65 pounds. The cruiser can provide up to 64 cubic feet of cargo volume. Still, a mountain bike doesn't really fit without removing the front wheel, removing the rear seats, or both. Seatbelts should always be worn, however, and the pt cruiser comes with three-point safety harnesses at all positions, including the rear center position. The front belts have pyrotechnically charged tensioner. driving impressionthe pt cruiser is fun to drive. In essence, it's a tall, practical economy car, but the pt cruiser goes relatively quickly. The standard engine is rated at 150 horsepower and 165 pounds-feet of torque. This is enough power to propel. 2007 chrysler sebring review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New and improved for 2007. introductionthe new, 2007 chrysler sebring is an overdue update of the marque's affordable, mainstream family car. It's intended to compete with chevrolet malibu, ford fusion, honda accord, toyota camry, and nissan altima, plus the hyundai sonata, kia optima, mitsubishi galant, and saturn aura. As the list makes obvious, it's a hyper-competitive market niche. Just being 'good enough' no longer makes the cut. It also helps to stay current with the competition's generational cycle, and the sebring was falling short in both regards.  the 2007 sebring rectifies these shortcomings in almost all respects. It gets a third powertrain; a new look; a new interior; and a subtle but generally effective tweaking of the acoustical foundations and structural underpinnings.  chrysler's engineers, designers and stylists did more than just enough with the new sebring. The base engine, a new, 2. 4-liter inline-4, is not only significantly more powerful, but also more fuel-efficient. The mid-level engine, still a 2. 7-liter v6 gains an ability to run on e-85, a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. A new, top-of-the-line, 3. 5-liter v6 is paired with a new, six-speed automatic transmission.  the designers of the '07 sebring kept just enough of the previous generation's styling cues so people will know the two cars are related. The very visible message this sends is unmistakable: the '07 truly is new, not just a face-lifted, quick makeover to keep the brand in dealer's showrooms.  inside, there's as much new as there is outside. Other than the basic ingredients, like gauges, seats and dash, there's little that carries over to the '07 from the '06. And this job is exceptionally well done. The look is sleek and polished, all nicely integrated and finished. There's more room inside, too, thanks to the several added inches in height and the fraction of an inch of added length. All is not fine and wonderful, though. Some interior surfaces, for example, are cold and hard to the touch, and the trunk, for another, gives up 15 percent of its capacity from the '06, giving it one of the smallest trunks in the class.  the list of safety features expands. A new, optional, rear-seat video system keeps passengers entertained. The optional, voice-activated navigation/audio system now incorporates a hard disk drive for quicker mapping response that also can store for playback personally recorded audio tracks.  all in all, very little about the new, 2007 sebring was left untouched or to chance. The v6-powered limited comes with p255/55r18 tires on aluminum wheels. Chrome wheels are available. Other options are similar to those on the other models.  safety features on all sebring sedans include multi-stage frontal airbags; front- and rear-seat. walkaroundchrysler has taken a daring tack with the new sebring. While many car makers strive to carry over as much as they can of a new model's predecessor while still making it look different, the '07 sebring's stylists tossed more than they kept of the previous generation's visuals. Even so, and despite the sweeping changes to the new sebring's exterior, it's safe to label the redesign as more dramatic than radical.  least startling in its revised look is the front end, although there, too, the changes are significant. The shape of the trademark grille survives but shrunken and positioned higher in the fascia. The car gets an honest front bumper, below which is a set of intakes, at least one of which actually functions to channel cooling air to the engine. Large, multi-element headlight assemblies fill the tops of the bumpers. The hood sports embossed strakes splaying back toward the windshield in a pattern intended to bless the sebring with some of the sporty airs of the crossfire, the sebring's underrated, two-seater sibling.  the side of the 2007 chrysler sebring is decorated with creased character lines, a big change from the smooth flanks of the '06 model. Flowing rearward from the front quarter panels, these creases spread, expanding the distance between them and emphasizing the sharply outlined wedge shape of the '07 sebring. Mild fender blisters circle the wheel openings. Body-color, anti-ding door moldings are optional on all trim levels. Side windows are framed in flat black. Mirror housings are body color across the line.  the rear of the car is the most radical element of the sebring's redesign, but it's radical in a contrarian way, showing more of a traditional trunk and bumper style than the '06's chopped off, kammback-look. Where the '06's taillights bracketed the trunk lid, the '07's taillights bridge the seam between the lid and the rear fenders. A molded-in, micro-spoiler lip tops the trailing edge of the trunk lid, itself remarkably shallow, yielding a severely cramped trunk opening. The only jarring element is the inset backlight, which seems to be an effort, however futile, to enlarge the trunk opening while maintaining the desired top-to-bottom proportions of the new sebring. interiorthe interior of the 2007 chrysler sebring is as dramatically changed as the exterior, but with a much more constructive result. Unlike the outside, which underwent the remake almost exclusively so it would look new, the interior is not only remodeled and updated, but it's also friendlier to driver and occupants.  the dash is less cluttered, much cleaner, with vast areas of seamless, gapless surfaces. Air conditioner registers are integrated into the dash panel. A nice aspect of the dash and center stack is they're laid out in a way that's inclusive of the front seat passenger, not oriented toward the driver, a factor that subtly reinforces the family-car personality of the sebring.  the.

2006 chrysler sebring review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. It's stylish and fun, but won't break the bank. The sebring comes in sedan or convertible. Two engine options are available depending on the different trim levels. The other trims are powered by a 200 hp 2. 7-liter v-6. For 2006, the chrysler sebring looses its coupe model and receives minor package changes.
