2003 land rover range rover review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Bmw engineering with land rover capability and charisma. introductioneverything about the 2003 range rover is totally new, save for the badges and tailgate latch. It's quicker and more agile on the road than the previous version, yet it retains land rover's pedigree for traversing the backcountry.  this marks only the third time that land rover has revamped its flagship since the range rover's introduction in 1970. Land rover belonged to bmw briefly, but has since been purchased by ford. Land rover is now part of ford's premier automotive group, along with british automakers jaguar and aston martin. That's largely true. It's powered by a 4. 4-liter bmw engine. Now standard are bi-xenon headlamps and a premium harman/kardon 15-speaker surround sound system. walkaroundthough easily recognized as a range rover, its exterior is completely new and cuts a distinctive profile. The front end is strong and horizontal, capped by range rover's trademark clamshell hood. High-tech headlamps (with power washers) and a prominent air dam are flanked by functional power vents that help feed air to the engine. Taillights echo the futuristic look of the front.  viewed from the side, the new range rover features a high beltline, with a flat expanse of sleek metal and brunel-finish power vents.  underneath the skin is a steel monocoque structure with an integrated chassis that increases torsional stiffness by 32 percent over previous models. Increased body rigidity improves ride and handling and gives the range rover the ability to tow, haul and tote just about anything on or off road.  overall, the new range rover is taller, wider, longer, and higher off the ground than ever before. It's more than 9 inches wider, with a wheelbase that is more than 5 inches wider than that of its predecessor. This model also clears the ground by 2. 6 inches more than last year's version, with a whopping eleven inches of ground clearance.  . interiorthe new range rover features a cavernous interior. Fans will not be surprised by a host of luxurious amenities, but some range rover loyalists may be surprised by the austere, straight lines of its upgraded interior.  the interior is light and airy, with styling cues coming from ocean-going yachts and first-class airline seating, as well as fine furniture and jewelry.  there is more head- and legroom than ever before. Seats are big and comfortable with adequate side bolstering and lumbar support and comfortable headrests. Rear seats have power split backrests.  flat panels and upgraded gauges dominate the dash, with a discrete metal finish used for detailing around the instruments and controls. All offer contrasting piping on the seats and a choice of decorative finishes: traditional burled walnut or avant-garde cherry.  an in-dash lcd displays essential vehicle information, and an on- and off-road navigation system is standard. The tailgate was designed to support the weight of two adults. The cargo area is longer and taller than before. The rear seats are split 60/40 for versatility when moving cargo and people. Luggage hooks on the floor of the cargo area are designed to keep items secure. A full-size spare tire is stored in a well under the cargo floor. A power sunroof is standard.  safety equipment is comprehensive. Eight airbags come standard: front, side, and head airbags for driver and front-seat passenger, as well as head airbags for rear outboard passengers. Security is also a high priority, which comes with deadlocks and an ultrasonic alarm system. Land rover notes that the new model includes a 'panic button' that activates locks for 'strong resistance to attack.' sounds like useful protection while on safari or in the urban jungle.  . driving impressionthe new range rover retains land rover's legendary off-road capability, but what's most amazing is its vastly improved handling on the road.  it handled a 200-mile trek on narrow, winding roads in scotland with the poise of a sheep dog, dodging and darting with the utmost steadiness. In sharp contrast to the previous range rover, the new one exhibits relatively little body roll, or lean, in corners.  this is the result of a highly refined air suspension system. Cross-link valves automatically allow softer spring and wheel rates for enhanced comfort. They also permit the driver to lower the ride height making it easier for passengers to get in an out. A new access setting can be pre-selected so the body can be the correct height as it rolls to a stop, allowing it to lower more quickly for passengers too impatient to wait.  bmw's smooth and powerful 4. 4-liter v8 delivers far greater power than the old 4. 6 rover engine. Output has been raised from the previous range rover's 220 horsepower to 282 horsepower at 5400 rpm in the new version. Torque is up 10 percent to 325 pounds-feet at 3600 rpm.  this gives the new range rover much quicker performance, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 9 seconds (as opposed to previous range rover's 10. 8 seconds), with a top speed of 130 mph. Emissions have been reduced and fuel efficiency has been improved slightly to an epa-estimated 12/17 mpg, city/highway.  the v8 is mated to a new five-speed automatic transmission developed by bmw and adapted for land rover and ford. The transmission features commandshift, one of the newest manual/automatic hybrids now coming to the luxury market. The news here is that commandshift in the range rover can operate in both high and low gear ratios for use on and off road.  while it's clear that the greatest difference with the new model is its on-road handling, its off-road prowess has been significantly upgraded as well, which we discovered on some of scotland's rugged off-road tracks.  increased ground clearance (11 inches) and an improved angle of approach (35 degrees) along with the stiffer chassis made negotiating scotland's muddy, rutted backcountry a breeze. The new range rover boasts the slowest low-range crawl speed in the industry: just 2. 4 mph at 1000 rpm, good for traversing the world's worst terrain. Its gearing is the lowest in its class.  an unusual feature is that the transmission can be switched between low and high range on the fly, at speeds up to 30 mph from low to high range, eliminating the need to stop in the middle of a mud bog to change gearing. Additionally, advanced electronics provide for a dual-range throttle with on- and off-road calibrations. That makes for quicker throttle response on the road, while allowing precise throttle adjustments in extreme off-road situations.  blazing trails can be done with more confidence thanks to an undercarriage protection system including a plastic shield and kevlar engine protection layer. A traction control system allows drivers to tread lightly by minimizing wheel spin, and therefore trail damage, off the beaten path.  the new range rover is capable of towing a two-horse trailer or a large powerboat. This system helps maintain vehicle stability at the limits of tire adhesion via a combination of yaw rate sensors, the antilock brake. summaryland rover's all-new range rover moves the bar for style, prestige, luxury, and capability. 2004 toyota sienna review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The new class leader?. introductionthe toyota sienna is all new for 2004. Bigger and better than last year's model, it's the first in a parade of redesigned minivans and may be the new class leader. It's considerably larger than last year's model, and about $1,000 cheaper. Its v6 engine has been bored out for more power and now produces 230 horsepower, while a new five-speed automatic improves response and fuel economy. All come with the new v6 engine and the new five-speed automatic transmission. All are equipped with anti-lock brakes (abs) with electronic brake distribution and brake assist, which help the driver stop quickly and maintain control. The all-wheel-drive xle has a base msrp of $36,930.  numerous option packages are available for all grades.  safety features: a new latch system (lower anchor with tether for children) is used in all second-row seating positions to accommodate new-design child seats. Front side and side curtain srs airbags covering all three seat rows are standard on the xle limited, optional on all other grades. Before designing the new sienna, chief engineer yuji yokoya drove the previous sienna all over north america, through mexico, canada, and the u. S., through every state, every province, some 53,000 miles. A short, slight japanese man, yokoya-san was often accompanied by program manager john jula, a tall, burly american. An odd couple, they couldn't have been more different in stature, appearance, and temperament. But they shared a seriousness of purpose, a devotion to designing the best minivan ever created, and a strong sense of humor. Working with designers and engineers from around the world, they ferreted every weakness and shortcoming of the old (1998-2003) sienna and addressed it with this new sienna.  the biggest shortcoming of the old sienna was its lack of interior roominess. Yokoya saw families buried under luggage. He also determined it needed to be quieter so families could more easily converse on long drives. He wanted better seats. And he wanted to improve stability at high speeds, especially in cross winds and on crowned roads.  the all-new 2004 toyota sienna is substantially larger, wider, taller than the previous-generation model. Its wheelbase is 5 inches longer and the track is 4 inches wider than last year's model. Stretching 200 inches over a 119-inch wheelbase, the new sienna is the same size as the biggest minivans on the market: the honda odyssey, dodge grand caravan, chrysler town & country, ford windstar, and the long-wheelbase versions of the chevrolet venture and pontiac montana.  everything on the sienna is big and bold: big headlamps and big taillamps light up the night and give the sienna presence in the dark. Black pillars, instead of body-colored pillars, make the new sienna look even larger than its considerable dimensions. A big windshield, big wipers, and wiper-mounted washer nozzles designed for snow belt improve driver visibility.  the sienna presents a sleek appearance by minivan standards, enhanced by its steeply raked windshield and the black pillars. The slot for the sliding doors is cleverly hidden, offering a cleaner look. There's lots of room for passengers and cargo. Fold the second- and third-row seats flat and the sienna can carry 4x8 sheets of plywood.  getting in and out of the sienna is easy. The power sliding doors are smooth and quiet and move more quickly than in the past, helpful for impatient passengers. Manual sliding doors and manual rear hatch on the le and ce models have a quality feel as well.  the rear side windows lower partly, though not below the center of gravity of a toddler, and feature anti-pinch protection designed to reduce chance of injuries to small hands and fingers. A nice feature is the availability of sunshades for the second- and third-row seats, which filters strong sunlight better than privacy glass.  up front the driver sits before a smooth, organic dash. Toyota says it splurged on the seats, which are designed to offer comfort for a variety of body shapes over long periods of time. The steering wheel tilts and telescopes. The ce comes with a nice cloth interior, though the door inserts are plain. Le features nicer cloth, nicer door inserts, and other trim. Two glove boxes are provided and a big center console holds 12 cds. Armrest compartments can each hold six cds and there's a spot for a small cell phone just to the right of the shifter. The dry cleaning hooks look big enough to accomodate a load of dry cleaning. In back are hooks for holding grocery bags. There's comparably good legroom and it feels roomy and airy with good room next to the passenger's head. That's impressive given that the sienna is fitted with side-curtain type airbags; they do not intrude into rear headroom as much as other designs. When not needed, the second-row seats tumble forward, presenting a friendly seat bottom to cargo or pets. The second-row seats are easy to remove and reinstall, though the captain's chairs weigh 49 pounds each.  seven. 2007 chrysler sebring review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New and improved for 2007. introductionthe new, 2007 chrysler sebring is an overdue update of the marque's affordable, mainstream family car. It's intended to compete with chevrolet malibu, ford fusion, honda accord, toyota camry, and nissan altima, plus the hyundai sonata, kia optima, mitsubishi galant, and saturn aura. As the list makes obvious, it's a hyper-competitive market niche. Just being 'good enough' no longer makes the cut. It also helps to stay current with the competition's generational cycle, and the sebring was falling short in both regards.  the 2007 sebring rectifies these shortcomings in almost all respects. It gets a third powertrain; a new look; a new interior; and a subtle but generally effective tweaking of the acoustical foundations and structural underpinnings.  chrysler's engineers, designers and stylists did more than just enough with the new sebring. The base engine, a new, 2. 4-liter inline-4, is not only significantly more powerful, but also more fuel-efficient. The mid-level engine, still a 2. 7-liter v6 gains an ability to run on e-85, a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. A new, top-of-the-line, 3. 5-liter v6 is paired with a new, six-speed automatic transmission.  the designers of the '07 sebring kept just enough of the previous generation's styling cues so people will know the two cars are related. The very visible message this sends is unmistakable: the '07 truly is new, not just a face-lifted, quick makeover to keep the brand in dealer's showrooms.  inside, there's as much new as there is outside. Other than the basic ingredients, like gauges, seats and dash, there's little that carries over to the '07 from the '06. And this job is exceptionally well done. The look is sleek and polished, all nicely integrated and finished. There's more room inside, too, thanks to the several added inches in height and the fraction of an inch of added length. All is not fine and wonderful, though. Some interior surfaces, for example, are cold and hard to the touch, and the trunk, for another, gives up 15 percent of its capacity from the '06, giving it one of the smallest trunks in the class.  the list of safety features expands. A new, optional, rear-seat video system keeps passengers entertained. The optional, voice-activated navigation/audio system now incorporates a hard disk drive for quicker mapping response that also can store for playback personally recorded audio tracks.  all in all, very little about the new, 2007 sebring was left untouched or to chance. The v6-powered limited comes with p255/55r18 tires on aluminum wheels. Chrome wheels are available. Other options are similar to those on the other models.  safety features on all sebring sedans include multi-stage frontal airbags; front- and rear-seat. walkaroundchrysler has taken a daring tack with the new sebring. While many car makers strive to carry over as much as they can of a new model's predecessor while still making it look different, the '07 sebring's stylists tossed more than they kept of the previous generation's visuals. Even so, and despite the sweeping changes to the new sebring's exterior, it's safe to label the redesign as more dramatic than radical.  least startling in its revised look is the front end, although there, too, the changes are significant. The shape of the trademark grille survives but shrunken and positioned higher in the fascia. The car gets an honest front bumper, below which is a set of intakes, at least one of which actually functions to channel cooling air to the engine. Large, multi-element headlight assemblies fill the tops of the bumpers. The hood sports embossed strakes splaying back toward the windshield in a pattern intended to bless the sebring with some of the sporty airs of the crossfire, the sebring's underrated, two-seater sibling.  the side of the 2007 chrysler sebring is decorated with creased character lines, a big change from the smooth flanks of the '06 model. Flowing rearward from the front quarter panels, these creases spread, expanding the distance between them and emphasizing the sharply outlined wedge shape of the '07 sebring. Mild fender blisters circle the wheel openings. Body-color, anti-ding door moldings are optional on all trim levels. Side windows are framed in flat black. Mirror housings are body color across the line.  the rear of the car is the most radical element of the sebring's redesign, but it's radical in a contrarian way, showing more of a traditional trunk and bumper style than the '06's chopped off, kammback-look. Where the '06's taillights bracketed the trunk lid, the '07's taillights bridge the seam between the lid and the rear fenders. A molded-in, micro-spoiler lip tops the trailing edge of the trunk lid, itself remarkably shallow, yielding a severely cramped trunk opening. The only jarring element is the inset backlight, which seems to be an effort, however futile, to enlarge the trunk opening while maintaining the desired top-to-bottom proportions of the new sebring. interiorthe interior of the 2007 chrysler sebring is as dramatically changed as the exterior, but with a much more constructive result. Unlike the outside, which underwent the remake almost exclusively so it would look new, the interior is not only remodeled and updated, but it's also friendlier to driver and occupants.  the dash is less cluttered, much cleaner, with vast areas of seamless, gapless surfaces. Air conditioner registers are integrated into the dash panel. A nice aspect of the dash and center stack is they're laid out in a way that's inclusive of the front seat passenger, not oriented toward the driver, a factor that subtly reinforces the family-car personality of the sebring.  the.

2005 nissan altima review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New interior improves this roomy and powerful sedan. introductionthe nissan altima is the sportiest of the mid-size sedans. Nissan has redesigned the interior, addressing the biggest caveat with this car. In addition to its new interior, the 2005 nissan altima gets some mild styling enhancements and a slight boost to its powerful v6, already one of the best v6 engines on the market. A new high-performance altima se-r adds even more sports appeal.  the nissan altima boasts a bigger interior than the toyota camry, honda accord and most other mid-size sedans. The new interior is nicer and more convenient than last year's interior.  when ordered with its 250-horsepower v6, the nissan altima is one of the hottest cars in its class. It delivers stunning acceleration. Punch it in any gear and it takes off, with nimble handling and brakes to match all the thrust. Two engines are available. The 3. 5 se and 3. 5 sl feature a powerful 3. 5-liter v6, essentially the same engine used in the nissan 350z and maxima.  the base 2. 5 model 17,200) comes standard with power windows, a green-tinted solar glass windshield, power steering, tilt and telescoping steering wheel, fold down center armrests front and rear, a 60/40 split folding rear seat and an in-glass antenna. Stereo and air conditioning are not part of the base package, however. The base model comes with a five-speed manual transmission; an automatic transmission is not available.  the 2. 5 s 19,050) adds air conditioning, power mirrors, remote keyless entry with remote trunk lock, an eight-way adjustable driver's seat, cruise control, a six-speaker audio system, seatback pockets and a lock for the split rear seat. The convenience package 1,680) features alloy wheels, 8-way power driver's seat with lumbar support, leather-wrapped steering wheel, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, trip computer, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, speed-sensitive volume control, automatic headlights and a vehicle security system. The convenience plus package 2,500) adds a power glass sunroof with sunshade to the other goodies, while the premium convenience package 3,300) ups the ante with a bose audio system that includes a six-disc in-dash cd changer.  the 2. 5 sl 23,400) is the luxury altima. The only convenience option is the sunroof 850). For those who want all the goodies without the big engine, this is the car.  the 3. 5 sl 26,900) has the v6 and comes standard with the five-speed automatic. A new model for 2005, this is a very nice car, loaded with luxury features, and represents the top of the line.  the 3. 5 se 23,100) is the performance model, equipped with the v6, five-speed manual, 17-inch alloy wheels, wider, speed-rated tires, a performance-tuned suspension, fog lights, and dual chrome exhaust tips. The se is available with the automatic 23,750). A leather package 3,000) includes the leather upholstery, bose audio system, sunroof, heated front seats, and heated mirrors. The sport package plus 2,600) includes the sunroof, spoiler, bose premium audio, and xenon headlights. The leather sport package 3,900) combines the leather package with the spoiler and xenon headlights.  the new se-r 29,200) benefits from the changes wrought on all 2005 altimas, but also gets a 260-horsepower version of the 3. 5-liter v6, performance-tuned front struts and rear shocks, stiffer front and rear springs, and thicker front and rear stabilizer bars. The se-r also comes with 225/45r18 w-speed rated tires and 18-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels. New front and rear fascias, compact fog lights, new rear spoiler and side-sill spoilers, and large dual exhaust finishers highlight the exterior; inside, the se-r gets sport leather seats, dark chrome trim, and a three-pod center-mounted gauge package.  safety features include dual-stage frontal airbags. Side-impact airbags for the front passengers are optional, however. Roof-mounted curtain airbags designed to provide head protection for front and rear passengers are also optional, but we recommend them as most side-impact fatalities are caused by head injuries. Also. walkaroundthe nissan altima is a big car by mid-size standards, bigger than the toyota camry and honda accord. Its wheels are pushed to the far corners of the car, giving it a long wheelbase and wide track for stability at high speeds. The long wheelbase leaves plenty of room for large doors and passengers as well.  styling revisions, though subtle, give the 2005 altima a more aggressive look. Cast more in the style of european sedans, the altima looks more like something from volkswagen or audi than honda or toyota. The hood has been redesigned, giving the 2005 altima a more athletic look, by suggesting it's packing a powerful engine. A new front fascia and smoked headlamps adds to the bold impression and a new grille looks more in keeping with the rest of the newest nissan lineup. Altima's grille is large by contemporary standards, but not the least bit awkward. Newly styled 16- and 17-inch wheels give the 2005 altima a sportier look.  its sloping roofline is reminiscent of a coupe. The high trunk lid is set off by bold round taillights, turn signals and backup lights set in a triangular-shaped cover.  the trunk has a large opening and low lift-over height. Offering 15. 6 cubic feet, the altima near the top of the mid-size class in trunk space. Flexibility is increased by the standard split-folding rear seat (with a lock on all but the base car). The trunk lid lifts on its own when popped with the remote key fob, and the gooseneck hinges that allow this action intrude minimally into the usable trunk space.  altima is assembled with a one-piece bodyside structure for more consistent build quality. Altima has gained on camry and accord in exterior build quality and nissan claims panel-fit accuracy within 1. 0 mm. The new interior is a vast improvement over that of last year's model.  interior improvements for the 2005 model year include a new instrument panel, a new center stack and a new center console, all much nicer than the previous model's. Seat materials, trim finishes, headliner and new chrome accents are an improvement over last year's materials.  the three-spoke steering wheel tilts and telescopes. The dashboard is set relatively low, with a three-gauge binnacle directly in front of the driver containing speedometer, tachometer, and water temperature and fuel gauges. The instruments glow orange in the dark, offering less interference to night vision.  the available navigation display is located at the top of the center stack. Audio controls are mounted high on the center stack for easy access. At the top are two rows of buttons, used to control audio, trip computer, and navigation functions, with a small joy stick in the center. Heating/air conditioning control knobs lie directly below and are easy to locate with minimal distraction.  air conditioning vents are flush-mounted on the dash. Seams for the passenger-side airbag are invisible, cleverly hidden in a large expanse of unembellished dashboard surface. The center console has cupholders large enough for one-liter bottles. A power port inside the center console storage area is useful for cell phones. There's an adjustable elbow rest. The parking brake is a proper handbrake, located front and center. The windows can be opened with the remote key fob, a nice feature in hot summer months.  altima feels spacious inside and that's no illusion. Altima ranks near the top of the class in interior roominess. There's more front legroom here than in all but the largest vehicles on the road. The front seats are quite comfortable and large enough for larger bodies. Getting in and out of the altima is easy, thanks to wide doors and a slightly higher-than-average front seating position.  the same applies in back. The rear seats are supportive and comfortable, with good legroom and sufficient headroom. A 6-foot, 4-inch passenger can sit comfortably behind a 6-foot, 4-inch driver. Rear center passengers have a three-point seat belt with shoulder harness; when the center spot is empty, an armrest drops and presents cupholders. Getting in and out of the rear seats is easier in the altima than it is in many mid-size sedans. The long wheelbase and large doors make it less likely that a rear passenger will get dirty by dragging clothes across the fender well. driving impressionthe nissan altima is one. 2004 volvo xc90 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Volvo values in an suv. introductioncan an automobile have scruples? We're not sure, but volvo calls its xc90 'the first suv with a conscience.' that's because the company's first sport-utility addresses the three conscience-testing suv issues. 1. It gets better gas mileage than most big suvs, and the five-cylinder xc90 has ultra-low (ulev) emissions. 2. It has a gyroscopic sensor that detects a possible impending rollover, activating a roll stability control system to apply braking and cut throttle to correct the imbalance. There's also a high-strength steel roof structure, just in case. 3. It has a unique low front chassis crossmember, about the same height as the bumper of a sedan, designed to inflict less damage on any vehicle or its occupants that the xc90 might strike. Clearly someone at volvo has noticed which way the political winds are blowing.  a totally new vehicle last year, the volvo xc90 looks like a cross between a volvo cross country wagon and a bmw x5. Unlike the bmw, volvo's suv seats seven, with a roomy, versatile interior that boasts more cargo space than the mercedes m-class, acura mdx and just about all the other vehicles in this class. For 2004, the xc90 gets a remote key fob that's also the key, with a retractable metal blade. A nice wooden steering wheel, leather shift lever and real aluminum trim are now optional. More aggressive wheel designs are intended to add character.  but a conscience? We'd call that line marketing. Suvs, including the xc90, are still heavier, with worse fuel mileage, than comparably sized wagons. And outside enthusiasts seem to go more for the xc70 cross country wagon. Yet volvo has kept the base price of the front-wheel-drive xc90 to a very reasonable level by limiting standard equipment, thus making the vehicle and its core strengths more affordable. Not that it's a stripper. The roll stability control, intended to virtually eliminate the possibility of a rollover, is standard. Volvo sells safety, and all xc90s have full-length, curtain-style head-protection airbags (the first suv so equipped, though others have followed). Other standard features include am/fm/cd stereo, fog lights, power driver's seat with memory, dual zone climate control, tinted windows and a trip computer.  electronically controlled all-wheel drive 1,775) is optional on the xc90 2. 5t. The popular premium package 2,575) includes leather seating, a power front passenger seat, mirror memory, a moonroof and in-dash six cd changer.  the xc90 awd t6 comes standard with all-wheel drive, as its name implies, and most of the equipment included in the base model's premium package. The t6 premium package 1,300) adds 18-inch wheels, power retractable side mirrors and a premium 300-watt stereo.  the versatility package 1,700) is what sets the xc90 apart from the average luxury suv. It includes the third row of seats and its accessories, starting with separate controls for the rear air conditioning unit and audio systems, as well as a built-in second-row child booster seat. The grouped options include a climate package 625) with heated front seats, headlight washers and rain-sensing wipers, and a security package 675) with infrared-heated windshield and laminated side glass.  stand-alone options include xenon headlamps 500), a vertical cargo net 300) to keep gear or pets in the back (volvo warns that a 60-pound dog flying forward at 30 mph weighs 2700 pounds), a reverse warning system 400), 18-inch alloy wheels 500), the integrated child booster cushion for the second-row seat 150) and the dolby 12-speaker sound system 775). The optional navigation system 1,995) is dvd based. walkaroundthe xc90's profile resembles that of a bmw x5, to the point where it almost looks like volvo was copying. A high beltline adds to the correct visual image of one tall suv.  the overall angularity clearly says volvo. The xc90 has the same general hood shape as the ram. The xc90 has a wide track, and despite its height, it has a lower center of gravity than the v70. This wide stance and low center of gravity promote handling stability.  like the v70, the back end of the xc90 features expansive taillights. The lower edge of the liftgate is waist level, leaving a small tailgate. It's also inclined toward the front of the vehicle, which shortens the roofline and makes the xc90 look shorter.  there are a lot of flat black and matt black composite pieces: bumpers, fender flares, cladding and assorted trim all the way up to the roof. But we think it detracts from the style and potential elegance of the vehicle.  the fit of body panels and trim is decent. The xc90's big doors close with a light touch and a nice solid sound when they latch. The rear window wiper is sturdy, protected by flat black plastic. interiorthe volvo xc90 is comfortable and can carry a lot of stuff. This allows the instrument panel and front seats to be positioned more forward, opening up space and legroom behind them. With the center second-row seat lowered, there is nine-and-a-half unobstructed feet between the instrument panel and the rear gate (even with the third-row seats in use, because there's a passage space between the seatbacks). Even with all three rows of seats in place there's room for two or three stacked duffel bags behind the third row.  seating and cargo arrangements in the seven-seater are enormously versatile, allowing 64 different configurations, including six of the seven seats folded flat. Equally impressive is the ease with which the seats slide, fold, change and vanish. Some highlights:  second-row seats are split 40/20/40 and slide forward independently. Headrests don't have to be removed when the seats are folded flat.  up front, the console between the front seats can be easily removed, allowing the center second-row seat to slide way forward between and just behind the front buckets. Getting into the third row is easier than it is in many suvs, however, due. CD Changer✔ Climate Control✔ AM/FM✔ Air Conditioning✔ Climate Package✔ Navigation System✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Alloy Wheels

2005 mazda mazda3 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. First-class fun at affordable prices. introductionthe mazda 3 is sporty, roomy and fun. The sedan has a sweet, rounded shape and smooth, cohesive design. The five-door looks more aggressive, but a lot of utility with its hatchback design and folding rear seats.  quick, nimble handling makes the mazda 3 (or mazda3 as the company renders it) fun to drive on twisty country roads. The free-revving 2. 3-liter engine delivers spirited performance. Standard equipment includes am/fm/cd, tilt and telescope steering wheel with audio controls, 15-inch steel wheels, halogen headlights, a stainless steel exhaust system, wind-up windows and manual door locks. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard, an automatic transmission 900) is optional. Air conditioning is optional 850). Also optional: power windows, mirrors and door locks, cruise control, remote entry, an upgraded driver's seat, upgraded audio with six speakers, and 16-inch alloy wheels, available as a package 1,400).  two-stage frontal airbags are standard. We strongly recommend the safety package 800), which includes side-impact airbags for the front seats, side air curtains for head protection for front and rear-seat passengers, and anti-lock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution (ebd). That would make a well-equipped (and commonly equipped) mazda3i more like $17,275 (with the $545 destination charge), or $18,175 with the automatic.  the mazda3s is more powerful and better equipped. The five-door hatchback gets sporty 205/50 all-season radials on 17-inch steel wheels.  options for the 3s include the automatic transmission 900), the safety package with side-impact airbags, curtain airbags, abs and ebd 800); leather upholstery 590); xenon high-intensity discharge headlights with a tire-pressure monitoring system 700); and a navigation system 1,750). A sport package 490) combining 17-inch wheels with sill extensions is available for the 3s sedan.  a package combining a moonroof with a six-disc cd changer 890) is available on all mazda3 models. This represents what mazda is known for: innovation and the risk that comes with it. The five-door needed an edgy proboscis, which it got. Mazda's trademark wedge grille has horizontal bars on the 3s, plain black mesh on the 3i. The headlamps have a smooth and sexy shape, swept back like cat's eyes and sparkling with three beams inside. The whole front bumper, including the air dam at the bottom with foglights in the corners, is impressively integrated. There's a small seam on each fender between the headlights and the wheel opening, and between the headlights there's only the hood crack. Everything south of that is one smooth and effective piece.  the rear of the sedan is another smooth cohesive design with an integrated bumper, and again only small seams at the edges. The deck is short and high and nicely softened at the top. The boxy top half makes the whole car look wider. There's less rake from the tops of the doors to the roof (affording more shoulder room), but the rear of the roof is gently rounded to the liftgate window, to soften the profile. There's a tidy spoiler above the rear window.  the rear fenders are aggressively defined over the wheels. We thought the design was a bit exaggerated until we used it the first time and appreciated its excellent function.  the taillights chase after the twentysomething sport-compact set. The glass is clear, and inside there are three bulbs: amber turn signal, white backup, and red brake. Black around the windows, body colored everywhere else.  mazda3 is a global car, sharing technology and components with the volvo s40 (and the european-market ford focus). It's like a talent co-op. People say component sharing makes cars all the same but it's not so. Mazda developed the engines and transmissions, volvo did the chassis and safety, and ford of europe did the basic suspension design. The tuning of the suspension was in mazda's hands, worked out at its hiroshima test track. Each manufacturer did what it does best, and the result is the best of three worlds.  a lot of work went into the rigid unibody chassis. In a head-on collision the front of the chassis is designed to redirect energy to the outside rails, and not down the center toward the front seats. The steering column is crushable and the pedals are designed to retract away from the driver's feet. interiorthe mazda3s interior is sturdy blue or red-check cloth. The optional leather seating surfaces are smooth and black and priced well compared to other cars.  the seats are great, with adequate bolstering. The 3s has adjustable lumbar support, and the hip position is elevated, reducing front legroom a touch, but providing excellent forward visibility as well as a very tidy relationship with the pedals and especially the short shift lever. There's no dead pedal, but the outside of the driver's right shin rests comfortably on the edge of the center stack.  the three-spoke steering wheel, leather-wrapped in the 3s, feels great in the hands, and the control buttons (cruise control, sound system) have a positive feel. There's an attractive faux carbon-fiber strip on the instrument panel, while the dashboard shelf is golf-ball grainy, not unlike the new cadillacs though mazda says it was the porsche boxster they were trying to copy.  three big gauges are dead ahead for the driver, but they're down in tunnels where they effectively hide from the glare of the sun. They are electroluminescent, which means day or night the numbers are lit in reddish-orange. Even without the color, the 140-mph speedometer would be awfully busy, with hash marks for miles and a smaller kilometer measure with more hash marks inside the mph numbers. The dash panel looks better at night than during the day, with the reddish-orange lighting having its chance to be seen. There are glowing rings around most of the dials including the cigarette lighter, in kind of a dull maroon.  the glovebox is not only huge (9 quarts), but the door is dampened and the compartment has its own light. There's a deep but not long console under the driver's right elbow, and between the seats are two built-in cupholders with a neatly hinged cover in black plastic. The cupholders have a canal between them so other things such as a cellphone can be stored and easily reached there. The window switch for the driver is illuminated at night, a very useful feature.  the back seats in the five-door hatchback are surprisingly roomy and supportive, even when relatively tall people are sitting in front. There's acres of rear headroom and decent legroom with room for big feet to slide under the front seats. The rear door opening is a bit narrow, though.  cargo space in the five-door with the seats folded flat in is 31. 2 cubic feet. We came out of an ikea store with an unassembled table in a flat box measuring 48 inches long and 30 inches wide, and it slid neatly into the back. Flipping the seats down is easy. We reached in from behind, pressed down on one small square button on each side, and an easy shove forward dropped each seat flat. A separate compartment is hidden under the floor. Fold the seats back up into their passenger-friendly position, and there's still 17. 1 cubic feet of cargo room, a fair amount for a compact car. The mazda3 can't carry as much cargo as a toyota matrix, but it's a lot more fun to drive.  the sedan has a more average-size 11. 4 cubic-foot trunk, but its rear seats still fold 60/40 for carrying long objects.  visibility is limited in the rearview mirror of the five-. 2006 subaru outback review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Newly designed lineup expanded with more models. introductionthe newly redesigned line of subaru outback models has been further improved for 2006. The new cabins are more comfortable, more luxurious, and better looking, and the styling was refined, so the outback doesn't look as boxy as before. More important, it was re-engineered with a lower center of gravity for improved handling and stability, even though it already boasted those attributes in spades, especially when compared with sport utility vehicles.  the outback features the latest in subaru's premium technology, with one of the world's best all-wheel-drive systems paired with boxer-style engines that help it achieve a low center of gravity. As a result, the outback delivers excellent all-weather capability. Whether on paved or unpaved roads, the outback's handling is vastly superior to that of a sport utility, yet it can stand up to a fair amount of abuse. Outback wagons are an excellent choice for outdoor activities.  safety is enhanced with dual-stage frontal airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags and full coverage side curtain airbags. Active front-seat head restraints are standard. Anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution come standard. They come with a choice of three engines. The five-speed manual transmission is beefed up to handle the additional power, and a five-speed sportshift automatic is available 1200).  the 3. 0 r models, the l. Bean edition and the vdc limited come with a six-cylinder engine rated at 250 horsepower and the five-speed sportshift automatic. For 2006, the vdc model (for vehicle dynamics control, an electronic stability control system) comes standard with the navigation system, an option on the other outback models 2,000).  the base 2. 5 i 24,795) comes standard with an eight-way power seat, tilt steering wheel, auto-off headlights and cruise control, power windows, power mirrors, power door locks, and remote keyless entry. Air conditioning comes standard, along with durable-looking fabric upholstery and a six-speaker am/fm/cd stereo. The cargo area has its own light, carpet (including on the back of the rear seats, which are 60/40 split fold-down units), grocery bag hooks and a retractable cargo area cover. The xt limited 30,995) adds perforated leather seat trim and the power moonroof.  the 3. 0 r l. Bean sedan 31,295) gets the l. Bean logos, a tire pressure monitoring system, a rear-seat center armrest with trunk pass-through and a single panel power moonroof (but trades the turn indicator-equipped outside mirrors for the base units). A momo mahogany-and-leather-wrapped steering wheel has integrated audio controls. Bean wagon 32,495) also gets an auto-dimming inside mirror with electronic compass, l. Bean floor mats and leather-trimmed seats and a removable cargo tray. The 3. 0 r vdc limited wagon 35,395) gets the outside mirrors with integrated turn signals, the dual-pane moonroof, and the navigation system, a three-frequency, programmable remote homelink transmitter, and upgraded audio with an mp3 player and rear subwoofer.  options include the navigation system, packaged with other amenities including dual-zone climate control, and a six-disc in-dash cd changer 2,000). A variety of cargo nets is available, one of which attaches to the rear seatbacks and ceiling-mounted hooks separating the passenger and cargo compartments, a must-have feature. Other options include an auto-dimming/compass rearview mirror 183), an upgraded security system with perimeter alarm 98); a cargo area spotlight 65); a subwoofer/amplifier 273); a hood protector 85); a front bumper underguard 136); all-weather floor mats 55); locks for alloy wheels 41); a short-throw shifter fo. walkaroundthe outback is a new vehicle, having been redesigned for 2005. It looks firmly planted. It is, in fact, firmly planted, but its smartly crafted fender blisters, deep front bumper and nicely proportioned tire and wheel combinations add to this impression. For 2006, the 2. 5 i and 2. 5 i limited models have been upgraded with 17-inch wheels as standard equipment, as on the higher-level models.  the outback is taller than its fraternal twin, the legacy, and is further distinguished with two honeycomb-like bars that split the outback's grille horizontally, highlighting its extended, octagonal shape. Large round fog lamps emphasize and soften the aggressive lower fascia. A low-rise air intake scoop on the xt model's hood hints at power lurking beneath. On the xt and the 3. 0 r, the clear-lens turn indicators on the lower edges of the outside mirrors minimize their mass. Wide tires visually stretch the car's stance.  even while standing still, the outback has a look of motion. That begins with the aerodynamic slope of the hood, made possible by the low profile of subaru's horizontally opposed engines. The look of motion is enhanced through the wagon's roof line, which drops steadily rearward from the front doors. This design is functional, combining with the increasing inward tilt of the rear side windows to ease air flow beyond the wagon's tail end. Clearly outlined fender blisters make the gap between tire and wheel well look smaller than it is. Minimalist splashguards behind both wheel wells and cladding along the bottom of the doors make the body look tightly connected to its wheels, unlike many other off-road capable vehicles.  on the rear of the wagon, all the lines (roof, rear window outline, beltline, bumper and rocker panel) draw inward toward the car's center, giving it a taut, neat finish. Large, geometric taillights cover the upper corners of the rear fenders. Small, almost demure backup lights are embedded in the liftgate on each side of the chrome eyelid over the recess for the rear license plate. The secondary, high-mounted stop light is centered in the roof-high spoiler behind a stylish clear lens.  in the sedan, the silhouette rises gradually to the a-pillar, then loops up over the geometrically arched side windows and back down behind the upscale, bmw-like c-pillar where it merges with the shoulder-like beltline before wrapping around the trunk, aerodynamically tapered like that of the wagon the back end of the sedan traces the rounded shape of the car, with visible shoulders connected by a smoothly arcing trunk lid, concave below the trailing top edge. The license plate is inset in the rear, and large, trapezoidal taillights wrap around the rear fenders. interiorthe outbacks have comfortable, versatile cabins. The front seats in the base 2. 5 i model are comfortable, but not what one might call cushy, upholstered in a durable fabric that's reasonably grippy, more so than the leather in the 2. 5 i limited. Rear seats are bolstered about the same as the fronts, with a minimal rise in the center in recognition of the driveline hump. The leather in the limited had a thick feel, but it is richly surfaced. The front seats in the xt and more expensive models have fuller bolsters and better overall support; the lumbar adjustments can be set from very soft to accommodate sensitive lower backs, to very aggressive to brace a classic ramrod spine. Bottom cushions are deeper than many but could offer more thigh.

2004 volkswagen jetta review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Both the volkswagen jetta sedan and wagon offer something for everyone. This versatility could explain its continued success in the north american market. The jetta starts life as a sensible mode of transportation, but with the right engine and transmission selected, the jetta can transform into a real performer. Am/fm cd player with 8 speakers, air-conditioning, cruise control, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, keyless entry, power windows and door locks, are all standard conveniences on the jetta. When it comes to safety, all jetta's are equipped with six airbags, anti-lock brakes, front safety belts with pre-tensioners and load limiters, anti-intrusion side door beams, and a steering wheel which is deformable/collapsible upon impact. Electronic stabilization program (esp) with brake assist is standard on the gli trim and optional on all other models. For 2004, the jetta sedan receives an updated exterior appearance that features chrome applications to the front and rear bumpers, and re-designed taillights. The wagon benefits from a new chrome front grille. On the inside both the sedan and wagon now have aluminum plated instrument ring clusters, seatbelt reminder and fuel cap seal warning, a new engine cover design, and the new tdi-pd engine with a 10-hp improvement over the previous tdi engine. 2003 honda pilot review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Roomy new suv goes straight to the head of the class. introductionhonda took its own sweet time getting its first family-size suv on the market, but a couple of minutes behind the wheel of the 2003 honda pilot makes it clear that every moment was well spent.  the all-new pilot brings honda virtues to a new class of vehicle. The interior packs eight seats into an overall package so short that the epa considers the pilot a compact suv. However, its competition will be the world's midsize suvs. Prices do not include a $460 destination and handling charge. walkaroundthe honda pilot gracefully borrows key styling cues from honda's smaller cr-v sport-utility. The grille and headlights are a careful enlargement of the cr-v's fluid wraparound face, while the body-color moldings give the pilot a more refined and upscale look.  the wheel arches are just aggressive enough to offset any impression this is a toy truck, but subtle enough to be consistent with the pilot's likely hangouts in upscale neighborhoods and parking lots. Large honda badges on the grille and liftgate make it clear that honda is proud of the pilot, and expects customers to feel the same way. interiorthe honda pilot packs an amazingly large amount of interior room into its small overall package. Both rows of rear seats split 60/40 to fold. That compares to 80. 1 cubic feet in the gmc envoy, 81. 3 in the ford explorer, and 81. 4 for the toyota highlander, all with the seats folded down.  the pilot's front seat is spacious, with two comfortable bucket seats and a versatile center console. The seats give excellent access to all the controls. In a particularly clever move, the largest dial in the center of the instrument panel is the switch to shift the audio controls from front- to rear-seat audio. Unfortunately, this was the only interior feature that did not seem to be fully thought out. Whenever the cell-phone holder was in use, it completely blocked the two cupholders mounted in front of it in the console. However, the console provides plenty of storage space, with a compartment behind the cell-phone holder (where my cell phone actually ended up most of the time), and a covered compartment located on the pilot's centerline provided more storage in the space between the console and the instrument panel.  the other instruments and controls will be familiar to anyone who has ever driven a honda. Like the mdx and odyssey, the pilot is a joy in daily use. Everything about the way the suv behaves on the road feels just a little better than was necessary to beat the competition.  the 240-horsepower 3. 5-liter v6 is more than adequate to propel the pilot. (curb weight is 4416 pounds for lx, 4439 pounds for ex.) acceleration performance is excellent, particularly in the 40-60 mph passing range that matters most in a quick run to the grocery store or when running late on the way to soccer practice. The pilot outguns the v6-powered toyota highlander by 20 horsepower. More important, the engine produces 245 pounds-feet of torque from 3000 rpm to 5000 rpm. That compares to 222 pounds-feet at 4400 rpm for the v6 highlander. Gm's midsize suvs, the chevrolet trailblazer, gmc envoy and oldsmobile bravada, offer a 4. 2-liter straight-six producing 270 horsepower and 275 pounds-feet of torque, but those truck-based suvs are about 200 pounds heavier than the pilot.  the automatic transmission shifts smoothly and precisely, even under hard acceleration. The five-speed electronically controlled automatic benefits from honda's electronic grade logic control system, which monitors throttle position, speed and acceleration to avoid hunting between gears. The steering wheel returns to center comfortably and intuitively for maneuvers in parking lots and tight driveways.  ride and handling compares well to the best midsize cars. It is stable at highway speeds, nimble in parking lots, and sufficiently well-damped to run over winter-buckled and pothole-laden urban streets without discomfiting its passengers. The steering wheel transmits road conditions enough to keep the driver informed without jerking the wheel at every pavement disruption. Passengers in the second-row seats found the ride equally comfortable, but the third row suffered somewhat from being right over the rear wheels.  unlike many suvs, the pilot has enough sound insulation to prevent bumps in the road from being transmitted to the interior as noise. Given their cavernous interiors, it's not uncommon for suvs to become booming echo chambers on rough roads. Even on michigan's notoriously ragged freeways, the pilot's interior remained quiet enough to carry on a normal conversation.  the pilot felt stable and secure in simulated emergency maneuvers carried out in an empty parking lot. The suspension behaved with aplomb under both hard braking and acceleration. The nose does not dive overmuch on sudden deceleration, nor does the pilot squat back on its haunches in a fast start.  the anti-lock brakes (abs) performed equally well in simulated panic stops. The brake response is linear, and smooth, providing a reassuring feeling of control even under maximum braking. Pedal feedback from the abs was minimal, removing one possible distraction that a driver really doesn't need in an emergency. The electronic brake distribution system (ebd), designed to reduce braking distances, performed transparently, as it should. Honda expects to sell 80,000 pilots a year. In a world where many suvs take up far more space than their utility justifies, and drink far more gas than their performance merits, the pilot is a breath of fresh air. model lineuplx 27,360) (yf1813ew); ex 29,730) (yf1843ew). assembled inalliston, ontario, canada. options as testedleather seats, rear-seat dvd entertainment system. model testedhonda pilot ex 29,730) (yf1843ew).

2001 acura cl review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Sporty, luxurious and balanced. introductionacura boldly asserts that, by the end of the 2001 model year, its all-new 3. 2 cl will be the best selling import-brand coupe in the luxury car market. The 328ci in particular has long been a favorite among enthusiast drivers, and at this writing remains the best-selling car in the class. The type s suspension is tuned for more responsive handling, and it features acura's anti-skid stability electronics. walkarounda coupe is supposed to look sexy, or at least a bit racy compared to the typical sedan. The coupe is lower, with a longer hood and shorter rear deck than the sedan.  structural enhancements inside the cl's body shell are designed to reduce noise, vibration and harshness. There's a fiberglass liner under the hood, asphalt sheeting in strategic areas around the cabin and electrically controlled hydraulic engine mounts that vary dampening rates at different engine speeds. Acura's engineers claim the 3. 2 cl is quieter than the c70, clk or 328ci. Measured by finish quality, the 3. 2 cl is a gem. Its 3. 2-liter v6 is free-revving with dual-overhead cams and multi-valves. The standard cl makes 225 horsepower, which is a lot of power for this class. The type s, thanks a number of subtle engine tweaks, makes an even more impressive 260 horsepower. Those tweaks include a higher volume intake system, less restrictive exhaust pipes, higher compression (10. 5:1 vs. 9. 8:1) and a higher redline (6900 rpm vs. 6300 rpm).  type s gets larger 17-inch aluminum wheels with michelin all-season tires. Its springs and shock absorbers are stiffer than the standard cl's. Acura's vehicle stability assist system, exclusive to the type s, automatically applies the brake at one corner to tighten the trajectory of either the front or rear end in skid-inducing driving conditions.  both cls feature a five-speed automatic transmission with a sequential shift slot that allows a driver to manually click through the gears. Both front seats feature seat-position memory; the mirrors are linked to this system as well. All cls have heated front seats, a sunroof, xenon headlamps and a six-disc, no-magazine in-dash cd changer. interiorby design, coupes put an emphasis on front passengers. The cl's front seats are comfortable and supportive in all circumstances, with fore-aft, height and recline power adjustment for the driver, fore-aft and recline for the passenger. There's enough side-bolster to keep people of small physical stature firmly ensconced during a spirited drive, and enough space to accommodate those of larger stature.  the cl's instrument panel is identical to the tl sedan's. It is clean in appearance and efficient in design, with high-grade switches that work with a soft, satisfying click. The no-magazine cd changer is handy: simply load up to six discs, one at a time, into the slot.  standard safety features include dual-stage front airbags that deploy at different rates depending on the severity of a crash, and a position-detection system for the passenger side airbag, borrowed from acura's big rl sedan. Six sensors determine the stature and position of whoever is sitting in the passenger seat; so the airbag won't fire if a child happens to be leaning against the door.  while the focus in the cl falls toward the front of the cabin, there's a surprising amount of space in back. All interior dimensions are larger than those in acura's 2000 3. 0 cl (and among the largest in the class), for an overall increase of 4. 6 cubic feet in cabin space. The two-place back seat leaves enough room for medium-sized adults, and it's easy to climb into. The electric sliding mechanism on the front passenger seat works more quickly than any we've encountered, yet the seat stops sliding back with any hint of obstruction for improved safety.  the cl's trunk is impressively roomy, too; with 13. 9 cubic feet of space it's one of the largest among similarly sized coupes (the c70 has 13. 1 cubic feet, the clk 11. 0, and the 328ci 9. 0). The tank is full, the sky is clear and those golf bags are secure in the trunk. The ride is firm, and well-suited to a driving enthusiast's tastes. Driven aggressively, the type s bears up well, and its tail tucks in nicely when the driver lifts from the throttle.  there's plenty of acceleration-producing grunt in the engine, although it is biased toward higher rpm. The sequential shifter works well, even if it's more conservatively programmed than some from other manufacturers. It won't allow the driver to repeatedly bump the rev limiter in low gears without shifting up on its own.  in general, the 3. 2 cl feels lighter and more nimble than many of its competitors. Yet one competitor might matter a bit more than the others. For years, bmw's 328ci has been the best selling import-brand coupe in the united states, and favorite among those who rank driving as a pleasurable pastime. How does the cl stack up?  the new cl's steering is just as precise as the 328ci's, though the bmw's might be purer in the sensations it feeds back to the driver's hands. There are tiny hints of torque effect in the cl's steering wheel while accelerating hard through a curve because the power is pulsing through the front axles. Bmw's inline six-cylinder engine seems to torque up faster than honda's free-revving v6, but in the absence of an instrument test, we'd venture that the cl type s is quicker, compared to 328ci automatic.  most drivers aren't likely to notice many of the distinctions, and many are a matter of taste. In objective terms, there isn't much to separate the 328ci from the cl. Factor in the cl's price advantage - as much as $8,000 - and the acura looks like a sweet deal. summarythe 2001 3. 2 cl is an impressive piece of work. It has more interior space than many competitors. Its solid body structure should mean years of smooth, rattle-free use, and its overall fit and finish are first rate. The equipment list includes everything but the microwave, and it has a big price advantage over key competitors. Throw in excellent performance, and acura's prediction of a best-seller sounds a lot less like bragging.  a manual transmission might increase the cl's appeal further.
